| The Greater Moncton Street Rod Association has a long and rich legacy of charitable giving and community
caring. The members of this Association also have a great degree of concern for children and their
well being. The founding members of the Group determined early on that they could do much for their
community, beyond what would be expected of them. |
| |
| Long involved in the Car Scene, the members hosted a long running series of car shows simply known as the
Fun Run. These shows grew in popularity and size until the Club hosted the Canadian Street Rod
Nationals in 1994. This gave the members some well-deserved national and international attention
and brought a good deal of focus on the City of Moncton. |
| |
| The net proceeds from that 1994 event and from the Fun Runs that followed were directed towards the
construction of the accessible playground area adjacent to the new Splash Park in Centennial Park.
Since the inception of the Atlantic Nationals in 2001, a large portion of the proceeds was directed
to the construction of the state of the art Accessible Splash Park that opened in Centennial Park in
2007. (Click on the Centennial Park links for more details on the Splash Park) |
| |
| This wonderful facility would not have been possible without the countless volunteer hours extended by
the Atlantic Nationals Steering Committee, members and families of the Greater Moncton Street Rods, and
the countless volunteers and other local car clubs who assist in making the Atlantic Nationals a reality. |
| |
| The Atlantic Nationals and the Greater Moncton Street Rods Association continue to generously support
local organizations and charities such as the Friends of Moncton Hospital, Georges Dumont Hospital, Codiac Viking
Aquatic Club, Children's Wishmaker, Juvenile Diabetes, Kids Help Phone, Camp Goodtime for Kids with Cancer,
Canadian Cancer Society, the Moncton Zoo, local sports teams, and countless others. |
| |
| In 2004, vandals destroyed the Santa Claus float that was in storage, the GMSR, together with
a local commercial sponsor, raised the funds and manpower needed to construct a new Santa Float. This year the club
reached an agreement with the City to construct a new "Santa`s Workshop" float to debut in 2008. |
