| The Atlantic Nationals Automotive Extravaganza |
| Long involved in the Car Scene, the members of the Greater Moncton Street Rod Association hosted a long running
series of car shows simply known as the Fun Run. These shows grew in popularity and size until the club hosted
the Canadian Street Rod Nationals in 1994. This gave the members some well-deserved national and international
attention and brought a good deal of focus on the City of Moncton. |
| |
| This notoriety led many others to the realization that Moncton truly was a great Car City, something local car
enthusiasts and organizations had known for years. The popularity of the 1994 event also created a great
deal of interest in the Greater Moncton Street Rods doing a repeat performance by hosting another National
calibre event. |
| |
| A steering committee was formed in 1999 to determine what direction the Association should follow. There was a
strong interest from many parties for a repeat performance of the Street Rod Nationals event held in 1994, while
others looked to continue the successful Fun Run formula. In 2000, the decision was made and the Atlantic
Nationals was born in 2001. |
